Next support for solar power plants early next year - Soliport

The Environmental Project Management Agency (EPA) will provide support to residents wishing to invest in renewable solar energy as early as 2025. Support will be available for both the installation of solar power plants and the purchase of part of a solar farm. Meanwhile, the balance of the €40 million call for proposals, last launched in June, is fast running out.

“The number of generating consumers in Lithuania is growing rapidly and quite consistently. More than 120,000 people have already chosen to make a personal contribution to strengthening our energy independence and the development of renewable, clean energy. Seeing the unwavering attention of both citizens and businesses, we are making every effort to prepare for the upcoming high-value calls as efficiently as possible,” says Vytautas Vrubliauskas, Deputy Director of APVA.

After launching 4 calls for support in June for residents wishing to install solar power plants or to increase the capacity of existing ones, the APVA has received a total of 19,000 applications 5 months after the call was launched. The planned increase in generation capacity of producing consumers is expected to exceed 150 MW. Of the €40 million allocated by the Ministry of Energy, almost the entire amount has already been reserved. The balance of the funds amounts to just over €200,000 for those wishing to increase the capacity of an existing solar power plant in the Capital Region.

In addition to support for solar power plants, there is also active preparation for the planned calls for electricity storage installations. At the end of this year, the Modernisation Fund is expected to provide more than €100 million in support to companies for large-scale (15 MW and above) electricity storage installations to balance the electricity system. Support is also being prepared for residential generating consumers who want to invest in individual electricity storage solutions (batteries).

The exact dates of future calls will be communicated to the public by APVA as soon as the conditions for support have been agreed with the responsible authorities and sustainable financing has been secured. Investments in renewable energy measures are planned and coordinated by the Ministry of Energy.
